Sizing up the facility to accommodate growing chapter a top priority for AVC

Over this past school year, the chapter has taken great strides both for the short-term and long-term goals. If you have visited the chapter lately, or even driven by, you will probably notice a lot more comotion around the chapter facility. It is full, and with summer recruitment gearing up right now, the chapter faces a problem they have not had in many years—How can they ?t all the men in the current facility?

The housing board has enlisted the support of a company called Executive Outcomes, based in Indiana, which specializes in project management, construction services, and facility assessments for greek communities all over the nation. The company came out to Seattle and stayed for about a week to do a complete assessment–foundation to roof–on the current structure. We will be reviewing their assessment this summer to determine the priorities on the current property, and come up with a long term plan, based on the facts provided in the report. This was a great ?rst step in understanding the current state of the chapter, and where to go from here.

If you missed the annual Alumni Golf Tournament in June, you missed a great time. Chapter brothers from all different years came together to take on Echo Falls. Jon Bruch ’99 puts this on every year, and it continues to be worth the time, money, and embarassment of hitting your ?rst shot in the water. We look forward to having more of you out at next year’s tournament, and are hopeful to get enough alumni to take our event to a new course, (Newcastle perhaps?) Thank you to everyone who participated.

Don’t let another event pass you by. As noted in Upcoming Events Section, we have two big alumni gatherings coming up in the next 6 months. The annual Salmon Bake is always a great time and an opportunity to walk thru the halls of the chapter and reminisce. Lots of changes, and yet many things remain, including the nicknames of several rooms (Siberia ring a bell?). The 90th anniversary reunion will be a time to celebrate our chapter’s history and being part of the largest fraternity in the nation. We look forward to seeing you all there.
